Term 4 Morning Routine

This term we have started to do swimming, each morning the teachers open the gate to the pool and let us all in. Our class  got into groups based on our skills before started doing lengths of the pool,after we do lengths we get free time. When our class gets out of the pool it's  freezing cold we quickly get changed and head back to class.

When we get back to class we do literacy, sometimes when its our turn on the new playground we go early to break. Some people in our class sometimes race each other to the new swings, I have only been on the swings once since they got here.

After morning tea we normally do maths, at the moment in maths we are learning about polygons and fractions, when all our work is done we play math games on our Chromebooks, then it is lunch break.

Skiing

 On the 22nd of September the tuakana of Rāwhiti School went on a ski trip. We went to Porters Pass Ski Field.

why it is good to have manners in our class room.

In tangaroa it is good to have manners because 

when we grow up we will become adults and have our 

own lives so while we are still children we have to 

learn manners,when someone says please and

 thank you they are being respectful,when i keep 

my hands to myself and don't punch,trip or hurt 

anyone i am being kind to everyone around me,when 

i compliment somebody i help them feel good,when

 i ask people questions the feel liked and respected,badlanguage 

often sounds aggressive and creates aggro,when you give

 kindness to someone they will give kindness back to you.

Be honest it makes people trust you and like you,

Only say kind things,

 Try and see the funny side of things when they go wrong 

It helps everyone realise that often people do things without thinking,give people compliments,

Tell people they are doing a good job,

Smile!

Be kind to everyone you see,

Don't use bad language,

Dont talk when somebody else is talking,

Don't be rude,

 When you find something don't keep it,

 Your manners change you into a better person.

Don't make people wait for you that's rude,

Don't say rude things to people

Be nice to people even if you don't like them or 

they are mean to you,

Accept your mistakes,

Say sorry when you do something incorrectly,

Do not shove kick or anything else that will hurt people

The Monster-

 “The Monster-”

No one believes me.They think I'm lying,But it's True,Big fat monster lives in my house and I can prove It,The monster is quite scary.

It stares at me through the dark shadow parts of my room.It doesn't talk but it makes a creaking sound,I can't tell if it's a boy or a girl monster,but it likes to stay in my house.

One night I got a close look at the monster. It has a long slender body, it's very tall,In place of the monster's face is blank white?! It wears a tuxedo and has these weird tentacle thingies.I can make out that the monster is a boy,His dark black tuxedo blends in with the cold stormy nights,It's not human but it looks like a human?!

I See him every night he just sits there staring back at me,When I blink he is gone,I assume he likes trees because i see him walking slowly in the trees,He tilts his head and  stares at me,I think he would like to live with us in our house,Because we live in a little old cottage in the woods.

He walks slowly up to my window and stares at me,I think he likes to look at me because he is always looking straight at me,He puts his pale white hands up to my cold window,I look at them in horror,I was as still as a statue,The monsters hand was going through the window i was as pale as a ghost.

I tried to scream but the monsters hand was covering my mouth,I wiggled around trying to free myself,I stared at the monster in shock,The sun was now rising,The monster was disappearing into the woods,He ran as fast as the wind,I blinked and ran down the hall to the bathroom,I took deep breaths,and slowly walked out,I walked outside the old wooden cottage.

I saw it. I saw the monster,Later I decided to search the “slenderman” on google,It came up with all these strange pictures of the monster I saw,I went on a website,The website said “If you see this man RUN” I looked at the statement in disbelief.

“I mean this is all a dream or is it” I whispered to myself,I kept scrolling through the websites pages about this strange creature,I was now aware that this monster is dangerous.

I was heading to bed when I remembered the monster “I Can't sleep in there” I said quietly,I slept in the living room that night,I slowly dozed to sleep.”I cant believe what  i saw”

I said inside of my head,I heard screeching at the door,I screamed in horror,as I watched the monster walk up to me slowly,My mom rushed into the  living room,”What's wrong?!” Said my mom in a frightened voice,”Uhh…yeah” I said in scred voice.

“Come sleep in my room” my mom said,”Ok” I responded,I walked to my moms room and settled in.

I had woken up and started worrying and I was not at home.

I was in this strange little log cabin,I looked around and noticed I wasn't on the ground?! I

was hanging from something,I also noticed I was upside down.

I saw the monster I tried to scream but my mouth was covered,I

stared at the tall slender monster which was now walking towards me,

I wiggled around trying to free myself from the rags,

I stared at the monster and stop wiggling around,I Thought to myself “My mom would be worrying”

The monster grabbed me and carried me into the cold dark log cabin,

He laid me on a long wooden table,He drew out this big knife,I stared in shock,

”What are you gonna do with me?!” I screamed-

Dawn Raids

In the early 70’s  immigrants came in to do unskilled labour (digging holes and taking out the trash)...

Eventually ran out of money and sent the immigrants home

So then the police started raiding the houses because the Islanders were stealing all the jobs from the Kiwis.

So the goverment told the police to raid the houses.

My Visits To Tangaroa

This week I have been doing visits to Tangaroa. I have enjoyed coming here daily.

I will miss my friends and my teachers in my other class but I will still see them. I have been doing visits because I'm moving into Tangaroa next Monday.

Reading.

Whaea Willie makes us do silent reading for 15 minutes daily,It has taken us a while for us to settle down,But now i actually like it.ツ

My time at Adrenaline Forsetツ

On wednesday the 12th of august,The tuakana of Rawhiti school went to Adrenaline Forest,We left at 11:00 and i dont remmember what time we arrived,When we arrived they helped us get into our harneses,Then they made us check the gear and go on a samall flying fox.

I was the first one on the course,I started on stage 1,I had these white gloves on and the green ropes made the gloves slip,We had to have our harneses connected to the ropes at all times.
I went on 5b and it was so high up i got scared,I also cried a little bit on the flying foxes but I still enjoyed it.

Photosynthesis

This term we have been learning about photosynthesis,Here is a slide about Photosynthesis . 

Zones

On the 21st of July I went to Zones,We took the vans to get there,Zones was held at Queenspark school,We had to wait until she told us to race,We stretched in the  training zone,We lined up at the starting line,We waited for the signal to start.
The signal went off and all the year 7 girls ran,The first hill wasnt that big so it was easy to run over,We ran around this tree,The second hill was quite steep and big,We were running 3 laps,I walked some of the way but i still ran.

I could hear everybody chearing as i made my way to the finish line,I was so tired after running i just sat down on the tarp,I was naging the teacher about going back to school,We finnaly went back to school,When we got back we got to play on the playground.

Karaka/Time

in  Ata Hapara we are learning to tell the time in Maori.

Off roading

On Saturday 20th of June,Me and my family went of roading to the waimakariri river,We were there for awhile,We drove on the rocks.Here is a photo of us:>

Moon Phases

Today we learnt about phases of the moon.
Then we researched the maori kupu.
We are learning this because matariki is coming up.
I learnt that there is seven main phases.
My favorite moon phase is the full moon.
It is my favorite because it shines bright at night.

during lock down

During this lock down.
Me and my family have been going for short walks around the block.
We get ready at about 09:40 and we leave at about 10:00.
So it normaly takes 20 minutes to get ready.
We are normaly out for 30:00.
Yesterday we went down to the board walk in Brighton.
Here is a photo we took.

My Time At Spencer Park Camp

On the 5-6th of March the tuakana of Rawhiti School went on Camp.

We went to Spencer Park.

We walked to the Park. I was on my bike with lots of other people.
It took a while so we made a stop in the forest.

We sat next to this big tree. We all started exploring the place where we settled. There was this massive hill. It was quite steep so we decided to ride our bikes down.
We finally left the place and continued our journey.
A few hours later we arrived at the camping spot. All our things were lying on the ground.
I picked up my things and started building the tent.It was pretty hard by myself.
Then my friends arrived and we all started building the tent together.

Later we started making dinner.
We made a big bowl of pasta and ate most of it.
When we finished it was time to play and there was this big inflatable pillow in the sandpit.

Later when it was getting dark we played predator in the dark.
We went to bed really late in the night.

In the morning we woke up to the sound of a really loud Rooster. I got up and made breakfast.
The cafeteria was full but I managed to find a seat next to my friends.
I ate cereal with sugar.
And of course i was still hungry so i had some more breakfast.
After that i got changed and went of to play.
My friends were all asleep so I woke them up.
I went to play on the bouncy pillow with my other friends.
Later when everyone was awake we did our activities I went surfing.
While i was surfing and I was about to catch a wave but instead I got wiped out.
Later we started heading back to camp.
Then we packed up all our things and our tents.
After we started heading back to school.
On the way back I crashed my bike into a tree had I was bleeding so I had to have ride back to school.
